Shellharbour Reads Book Club

We have over 100 Shellharbour Reads Book Club kits to support all the book clubs in our local area.

Each kit contains 10 copies of a title and may include titles in various formats such as DVD, audiobook or large print.

Kits also contain information about the author and discussion notes to help get the conversation started.

Any member of our library can register a book club to gain access to the book club kits.

Who can borrow from the Shellharbour Reads Book Club collection?

The person who has registered the book club becomes the Coordinator. You will be our contact who provides us with a list of members and coordinates the Book Club's borrowing.

Each member of a Book Club must be a current member of Shellharbour City Libraries to participate in the book club program.

If you're not a member, you can join online through the library website. Membership and kits are free!

If you're already a library member, simply complete the Shellharbour Reads Book Club registration form

How can I join an existing Library co-ordinated Book Club?

To register your interest in one of our Book Clubs, please email Library Enquiries and we will get back to you.

How do I find an available book club kit?

You can look for titles through the library catalogue, under the Resources tab.

Can we go on a waiting list for book club kits?

We don't place reservations on book club kits that are out on loan. Please use the catalogue to choose from titles available now, and contact the library to have a kit held for a week.

How long can we borrow the kits?

Kits can be borrowed for six weeks only.

Book club kits cannot be renewed.

Can we borrow more than one kit at a time?

Yes. A maximum of two kits can be loaned to a club at any one time. This works well for moving from one title to the next.

How do we borrow a book club kit?

The Coordinator must contact the library one week before collecting the kit. We suggest you provide library staff with three book club titles.

Library staff will set aside your kit and have it ready for collection at your nominated library.

We will check-out a copy to each member and include a printed slip with details so you can distribute the items to your members. All remaining items in the kit remain the responsibility of the Book Club Coordinator.

How do we return a kit?

The Coordinator must return the full kit including all copies of the book, and any additional large print, audio books, and DVD's. Please return any unusued discussion sheets.

If a book club member is absent from the meeting, they are responsible for the prompt return of the title to any of our libraries.

Please return your book kits directly to the library staff during library hours.

What if we lose or damage an item?

We ask that the Coordinator notify library staff of any loss or damage. Each member is responsible for the cost of any lost or damaged item.

Shellharbour City Libraries acknowledges the traditional custodians of Dharawal Country and recognises their continued connection to the land. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and the contribution they make to the life of this City.
