Have your say!
On 28 February 2025 we are saying goodbye to Hoopla. For the past two years we have used Hoopla to extend our range of digital materials including digital music, movies and comics.
In a recent review of our digital library, we note that our BorrowBox platform continues to be the most used platform at Shellharbour City Libraries. It is rich in Australian content featuring the authors and titles that our members know and love to read.
As we leave Hoopla, we will shift our focus to BorrowBox, where we will continue to add new content each month, including more high-demand titles to reduce wait times.
If you’re a movie buff, don’t forget we have Beamafilm where you can stream movies, documentaries and tv series.
For more information, please see our FAQs below.

Why are we saying goodbye to Hoopla?
BorrowBox is by far our most popular digital platform with our customers – it supports lots of popular Australian authors and titles. It also has a great selection of digital magazines.
When is the last day to use Hoopla?
You’ll no longer be able to access Hoopla after 28 February 2025.
What happens if I have items on loan?
You’ll have until 28 February 2025 to read anything you have on loan. After this date, all loans will automatically be returned as access to Hoopla will cease for Shellharbour customers.
Do I have to cancel or delete my account?
You won’t need to delete anything. Access to Hoopla will lapse on 28 February 2025 for Shellharbour customers.
What if I can't find what I want to read on BorrowBox?
New titles are added to BorrowBox each month. Keep an eye out for what’s new via the BorrowBox app or our library website.
We also have indyreads that offers a good selection of eBooks and eAudiobooks.
But sometimes I have to wait for my holds on BorrowBox!
It’s important to remember that our library service model has always been one of collective sharing and taking turns borrowing. However, by shifting our focus to BorrowBox, we’ll be ensuring we purchase more in-demand titles to reduce wait times.
What can I use to watch movies and TV shows?
Beamafilm is where you can stream movies, documentaries and tv series – all you need is your library card. Explore Beamafilm here!
