Heads up, library lovers, a fresh chapter is coming!
Exciting news! From Monday 23 June to Monday 30 June, our library system will be offline as we change to a simpler and smarter platform.
Our brand-new innovative library system offers powerful new features like;
improved searching
seamless mobile access via a Library app
simpler and more personalised experience
And that’s just the beginning! Whether you’re reserving a bestseller, managing your account or discovering hidden gems, everything will be easier than ever before.
In the meantime, you’ll still be able to borrow from the shelves with help from our friendly team but some services like online accounts, reservations and self-service kiosks will be paused during the upgrade period.
All due dates have been extended until mid-July, so hold on to your items until then!
We appreciate your patience and support as we make this important change.

Why is the library system changing?
We’re upgrading to a new and sophisticated system called Innovative, bringing powerful new features like improved searching, mobile access from a library app and a more personalised experience for you.
Managing your account and accessing digital library collections will be easier than ever before!
Are the libraries still operating?
City Library, Warilla, Albion Park and Oak Flats will still be operating as usual. Come in and talk to us!
Shellharbour Village Library will be closed from Tuesday 24 June and reopen Tuesday 8 July.
When will the change happen?
To help us prepare, the current system will be offline from Sunday 23 June to Monday 30 June with limited services. The new system goes live on Tuesday, 1 July 2025.
What services will be affected during the offline period?
- You can access the library catalogue, but the information won’t be up-to-date.
- You can borrow what’s on the shelf in the library
- Loan kiosks will be unavailable, please see staff to check-out your items
- No online access to your library account
- No new memberships
- No new holds can be placed
- No returns will be processed during this time (but don’t worry – due dates have been extended until mid-July)
- Remember to bring your library card!
Are library programs still running?
Yes – the system changes won’t impact our library programs – check our What’s On
Can I still borrow books while the system is online?
Yes, you can borrow what’s available on the shelf by speaking with a staff member. Self-loan kiosks won’t be available. Remember to bring your library card!
What should I do with my items during the offline period
Please hang onto them! Due dates have been extended until mid-July and returns won’t be processed until after 1 July.
Can I still join the library during the offline period?
Unfortunately, new memberships can’t be processed while we’re offline. You’re welcome to sign up once the new system is live from 1 July.
Will I lose any of my account information?
Your existing account details, current loans and holds will all carry over to the new system. You can reactivate your reading history from 1 July 2025. Speak with staff about activating this feature on your account.
What's new in the upgraded system?
You’ll enjoy improved searching, better access to your account and digital resources. It’s designed to make your library experience simpler and more intuitive. There’s also a Library App!
This is just the beginning of even better things to come. There will be some more exciting features coming over the following months, so stay tuned!
Please ask our library staff or call your library if you are after more information. We appreciate your patience and support during this important change.
