Introduce your child to a world of possibilities with storytimes that make learning fun!
What you’ll do
Storytimes are interactive sessions that introduce children to reading and develop a strong foundation for learning. Each session will explore new stories and encourage children to interact through song, movement and sensory activities, designed to support your child’s development.
At each session we will:
– Read books together
– Sing and rhyme together
– Be involved in games and activities
– Develop fine motor skills with supportive craft activities
It’s never too early to start reading!
Did you know that reading to your child from birth is important? A child’s brain is 90% developed by the time they turn 5. This means their first 5 years are a time of rapid growth and learning about the world around them.
Regular positive experiences through language, movement, socialisation and play will strengthen connections in their brain and establish a foundation for life-long learning before starting school.
What should I know?
– Please arrive on time for storytime sessions.
– We encourage you to allow time to explore our range of books to take home to read.
– Children learn and absorb their environments in many different ways. Even if your child isn’t sitting, it doesn’t mean they aren’t listening. Continue to support their interests and model storytime behaviour and they will begin to understand the routine.
Who should attend?
This program is for parents or carers with children aged 3 – 5 years.
