What you’ll do
My First STEM is an interactive program that uses play based activities to encourage children to learn and investigate the world around them.
At each session we will:
– Read books together
– Sing and rhyme together
– Be involved in a fun game/activity together
– Explore Duplo Lego kits
Each week we will repeat a similar routine to establish familiarity in a safe and welcoming environment and confidence in what they are learning.
What is STEM?
STEM is a broad term to describe focused learning through Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics. Hands on, play-based learning through STEM encourages children to be curious about the world around them and lays a foundation for social and emotional intelligence. STEM teaches children to be creative, develop problem-solving skills and the importance of resilience.
What should I know?
– We encourage you to allow time to explore our range of books to take home to read.
– Children learn and absorb their environments in many different ways. Encourage your child to try building the design themselves. It’s ok if they don’t get it exactly right, they are learning concepts of how things work and go together and showing creativity.
Who should attend?
This program is designed for parents or carers with children aged 18 months – 4 years.
